How To Dragon

Someone on my tumblr asked me to make a tutorial/draw dragon references, and to copy/paste what I said to her on there ...


I adore dragons and I have the hardest time drawing them because I keep thinking there’s no real life equivalent to them, but this is 100% not true.

So, aside from this crappy sort of tutorial, I advise you google pictures of dinosaur skulls, bird beaks and wings, bat wings, cats and dogs for spines and body shape, and lizards for arms and claws and eyes, and goats or antelope or deer for horns. If you look hard enough, just about anything can be a reference for a dragon!

Also it’s kind of hard to do “basic” dragon anything, because they’re so varied. I assume you mean a typical western dragon so I kept them vaguely western. Ish.
